Getting out of the house is often hampered by the fact that most houses are located inside a bigger and fancier house. Step outside of the house outside of your house with today's Groupon: for $16, you get four Sugar Bush Adventure tickets at White Meadows Farms in Pelham (a $38 value). The Sugar Bush Adventure runs every weekend from February 12 through April 3 and every day March 14 through 18.

Along wooded trails that gaze upon majestic maple trees, White Meadows' Sugar Bush Adventure explores Canada's cardinal agricultural product with family-friendly, informative, and interactive outdoor excursions. A covered hay wagon pads buccaneers through the snow to a thick forest filled with authentically attired White Meadows farmhands who man maple-syrup churning stations and expound on the treacle's rich history, as well as modern-day psychic harvesting techniques. With warm fires glowing in the nearby brush, kids can "tap" trees of their maple resources, gawk at regional wildlife, and attain the ancient pioneer skills for making taffy. Tours are self-guided, so trailblazers may loom for as long as needed to bask in the farm's beauty or recite every chapter of Ulysses.

White Meadows Farms celebrates Canada's famed sap crop with everything from a maple store to a necropolis of mummified maple trees and their beloved cats. The barnyard skating rink and toboggan hill whisk family fleets into the great outdoors, and the pancake house heaps onto plates hearty breakfasts with a side of maple tea.

Reviews

White Meadows Farms was reviewed on Suite101.com:

  • Get everyone out of the house during the middle of February through the beginning of April for a tractor-pulled wagon ride into the sugar bush to learn all about the maple syrup process, from tree tappings to the sap house and everything in between. Visitors can learn which trees are native to the area, listen to demonstrations by costumed staff members, or try sawing off a souvenir tree log which can be carved with a name or design. The path through the sugar bush is easy to follow for casual strolls and posted information boards along the way offer plenty of interesting facts about the surrounding area. – Erin McLaughlin
