Similar to tickling a bear without losing an arm, the art of breathing underwater requires years of practice and dedication. Introduce your lungs to aqueous awareness with today’s Groupon.to ZZ Underwater World. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get an introductory Try Scuba class (a $25 value).
- For $149, you get a local Open Water Diver course, which concludes with diver certification (a $375 value). Students must supply their own diving equipment for local water dives, available for purchase at ZZ's Dive Center.
Since 1978, ZZ Underwater World's certified instructors have guided swimmers toward scuba proficiency with introductory lessons and diver-certification courses. During a two-hour Try Scuba class, greenhorns learn about diving equipment such as the underwater breathing apparatus necessary for any scuba excursion or voyage to unplug the drain of an especially deep bathtub. Experienced nautical navigators also demonstrate techniques for clearing ears and sinuses during dives before leading students to a pool session. Confined in safe waters, participants can practice skills such as clearing water from the facemask, equalizing increasing water pressure, and preventing swimsuit bubbles from forcing bottoms toward the surface. Check the schedule for Try Scuba dates and times.
Amateur divers can also opt to earn diver certification by enrolling in an Open Water Diver course. Each course, completed over the course of 3–4 weeks depending on the student's availability, begins with two academic review sessions, which you can choose to tackle online or in a traditional instructor-led classroom. Six confined pool sessions then allow pupils to hone diving skills through various buoyancy exercises, including drills that refine underwater movements and flexibility for future dance-offs with arrogant octopi. The package concludes with five open-water dives at a local lake.
