MaZi Dance Fitness was co-founded in 2009 by sisters Marisol Sarabia and Ziba Lennox. Upon retiring from professional ballet and entering the corporate world, they found that they missed the physical, emotional, and social fulfillment they drew from dance studios. MaZi offers a fun and engaging alternative for people not motivated by regular workout routines.

As a small business, MaZi Dance Fitness faced a challenge many other business owners will relate to: staying relevant in the digital marketing landscape.
“Sometimes it gets really hard to do that as a small business because you wear so many hats. You’re the janitor, you’re the marketing person, you’re IT, HR, you’re everything. So, to also keep up with the industry can be very difficult when you don’t have the scale or the resources,” Ziba says.
Partnering with Groupon has allowed MaZi to leverage the most current best practices and bring in new business, even with a lean marketing budget. Many of those new customers are people who may not have otherwise taken a chance on the studio’s classes, but who become regulars once they do try it.
“Groupon really helped us not only to get in front of a new client, but also at a price point for a new client to be like, ‘I didn’t think that I maybe would wanna take a chance on dance fitness, but because it’s on Groupon with a price that’s so attractive to me, hell, I’m gonna just go ahead and take a chance,’” says Ziba.
“We get great clientele and very loyal customers because of Groupon, and then it keeps reaching out to more people,” adds Marisol.
