Very cool experience for the whole family. The admission cost includes the zookeeper talks, sheep herding (that was the best) and being able to pet the kangaroos. Bring cash to feed the kangaroos ($1). Also, rent the golf cart($30ish). While I suppose it’s possible to skip that, it would not be fun. There is a lot of walking up and down hills. The golf cart also protects from the constant rain.

Kentucky Down Under provides outback-interested wayfarers with an arsenal of authentic Australian animals and culture, and a tour through a Kentucky cave. Staff members can help guests tailor a unique adventure with stops at a walk-in aviary to gawk at Australian finches, as well as a guided tour through the kangaroo-, wallaby-, and emu-laden Outback. At Camp Corroboree, visitors can discover pieces of Aboriginal culture, including the soothing hum of the didgeridoo and the delicate balance of physics and magic in a boomerang. In addition to Aussieness, Kentucky Down Under showcases a local treasure with the Kentucky Caverns. During the 45-minute tour of the earth hole, explorers can witness the ever-changing formations of stalactites, stalagmites, and life-size Dennis Franz rock statues.

Between animal petting and stalactite hugging, KDU-goers can grab a salad, sandwich, or bison burger at the Outback Café.

The caves are open year-round, but animal areas are closed at certain times of year.
