I bought the 3 hour $325 private lesson to go with my bf. The facility was organized, clean, and only one other group at the same time. Our instructor was very enthusiastic and friendly. He definitely knows his stuff very well, but not really the best instructor. For the first hour he was talking about the history of glass making while giving instructions. Not really explaining why we are doing what we are doing. It was also going pretty slow, we made one piece in the first hour. Then I think he realized that it was going too slow, so he picked up the pace by a lot for the rest of the time and we ended up making 5 pieces total. We mostly got to melt the glass, add colors, pull and twist the color. Instructor did the rest of the more delicate work. Pros: 1. Very friendly staff and nice facility 2. Good one time experience Cons: 1. between the instructor coming in late, taking a break, and ending the class early, we could have totally made another piece. 2. I wish he could explain the instructions more. 3. I wish we could blow the glass ourselves. (Understandable for covid and safety reasons) 4. The process for all the pieces are pretty much the same, so not really worth buying a 3 hour class.

About Seattle Glassblowing Studio & Gallery

The craft masters at Seattle Glassblowing Studio & Gallery guide pupils to artistic bliss by expounding on a spectrum of steps needed to create intricate pieces. Whether taking a "Blow Your Own Glass" class or forming a clique in a one- to three-person private class, students turn provided materials into bowls, cups, and decorative piles of glass shards. Professional glass wielders safely impart etiquette and basic techniques such as gathering glass on a rod and shaping it into colorful geometric forms.

The shop's instructors also offer their own artistic services, including custom commissions such as functional lighting and installation pieces. Damaged glass heirlooms undergo repairs in the cold-working shop, where artisans restore shattered pieces and polish away dullness left behind by covetous pawing.
