On Saturday, October 20, the lush greenery and winding waterways of Omega Ranch form the setting for a wild rush of mud, sweat, and adrenaline. More than 25 grueling obstacles line a tortuous 3-mile course, onto which waves of up to 400 runners will be released every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each participant takes home a T-shirt, wristband, and race medallion, and is treated to water and snacks during the race.
Xtreme Mud Warrior
In order to help them effectively slide through 3 miles of obstacles and a crowd of 400 runners, the Xtreme Mud Warrior race lets its competitors grease up with excessive amounts of slippery mud. Waves of runners traverse a soggy course while climbing hills and halfpipes, hopping over fallen trees and tires, belly-crawling under low obstacles, and shimmying across suspended ropes. A refreshment station recharges runners halfway through the course, and a shorter course lets young runners test their problem-solving skills and experience the pleasures of being a salamander.
Omega Ranch sits on more than 1,200 multipurpose acres. The land is studded by fishing ponds, Hollywood sets, obstacles courses and cabins. It's also conveniently close to many of Florida's most iconic attractions, including Daytona Beach, Sea World, and Disney World—but there's just as much fun to be had on the premises.
Host to a myriad of summer camps, birthday parties, and retreats, with over 5 miles of land the ranch is always abuzz with scenario games, field laser tag, zombie runs, archery classes, survival classes, gun classes, gun range, hunting, challenge courses, and team building. And for those who want to commune with wildlife or truly upgrade their hide-and-seek standards, there's air-conditioned cabins, camping, and more than 150,000 acres of conserved land to explore nearby.
