What is Chelation?
In chemistry, Chelation (pronounced KEY-LAY-SHUN) means to "bind/grab". Chelation Therapy is used to remove heavy metals/minerals in the body by injecting an amino acid called Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid, or EDTA, intravenously into the bloodstream. The EDTA binds or "grabs" heavy metals/minerals like lead, mercury, arsenic, aluminum, iron, and calcium, and eliminates them through the urine.
These metals and minerals can build up in our body through air pollution, food, and certain diseases. While our bodies may need them in small doses, an abundance or abnormally-positioned amount may be harmful.

Each visit takes roughly 1-2 hours, and is offered in a physician's office/clinic. Most patients feel little to no discomfort as the IV EDTA fluid flows to the bloodstream each session. Some may rarely experience mild nausea, dizziness, or headache.
Chelation Therapy is not a cure-all solution for atherosclerosis or heart disease, but rather a supplemental therapy used alongside lifestyle changes and standard treatments/medications.
