Held at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, the festival takes place from Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11.
The festival features live performances by musicians and dancers, as well as an opportunity to cheer on the people running for charity as part of Maria’s Miles 3-mile run/walk. The parade showcases troupes of dancers, high-school marching bands, and Italian cars that honk with a noticeable accent. Visitors can also compete in games of bocce ball, entertain their youngsters on the miniature rides, or feast on pizza, meatballs, and piping-hot italian sausages. Kids aged 12 or younger can enter for free with a paying adult.
Columbus Italian Festival
Founded more than 30 years ago to foster cultural pride in Italian American heritage, the Columbus Italian Festival still hews to its original trifecta of values: faith, family, and friends. Held at St. John the Baptist Italian Catholic Church, the festival has swelled from its inaugural crowd of 10,000 to more than 35,000. The festivities, which go on for three days, honor Columbus’s vibrant Italian community with live music, a smorgasbord of Italian cuisine, a cultural parade, and a film festival featuring the work of famous Italian directors, actors, or boom-mike operators.
