Fun, quirky place. It's a bit off the beaten path for residents of the Twin Cities metro area but worth the trip. The owners clearly enjoy seeing kids and families having fun.

Eko Backen is one of the most fun activities that I've taken my kids and grandkids to. It's fun for everyone from my 2-1/2 year old grandson to me in my 60s. Plus it's an active outing where we get some exercise and can breathe in the clean country air.

Eko Backen

Set on a hilltop overlooking the forests of St. Croix Valley, Eko Backen provides year-round family fun at a scenic locale. In the heat of the summer, guests can cool off by plunging down two massive hydrotube waterslides that span more than 350 feet each, letting guests imagine themselves caught inside a Brobdingnagian crazy straw. At the nine-hole mini-golf course, guests send colorful golf balls somersaulting over greens buttressed by rocky outcrops, ponds, and trees—landscaping that transforms into a mosaic of red, orange, and yellow in the autumn. Eko Backen's friendly staff offers picnic-style catering for events held at its chalet, an ideal venue for family reunions, birthday parties, or celebrations.

In the winter, guests can embrace the cold weather with snow tubing, which begins the day after Thanksgiving. Eko Backen even makes its own snow, so guests don't have to wait for natural snowfall or bring their own ice block to zip down the hill as soon as the temperature drops.
