Without dedicated bonding time, family members grow resentful of one another’s bad habits, such as cheating at Monopoly and warming socks in the toaster. Preserve familial unity with today’s deal to First Night Columbus on Saturday, December 31, at 5 p.m. Choose between the following options:

  • For $8, you get two tickets (up to a $16 value).
  • For $16, you get four tickets (up to a $32 value).

First Night Columbus was established in 1995 as part of a union between more than 100 cities seeking to offer families a fun, entertainment-packed event to celebrate the New Year. Showcasing a vibrant collage of visual and performing artists, the citywide soiree draws more than 15,000 Ohio residents and vacationing snowmen annually, luring guests of all ages with a full schedule of hands-on activities, thrilling performances, and educational presentations.

Equipped with an event-day map, attendees can begin to weave their venue-to-venue odyssey, stopping at age-specific attractions along the way. Face painting, balloon twisting, jugglers and magicians beguile the eyes of pintsize visitors, whereas teenagers are free to hang out at Club COSI, where video games, karaoke, and ACT practice exams provide pre-adult delights. After working up an appetite dancing to one of the event’s 15 musical acts peppered throughout downtown, stop by the international food court, which transports tasters to global culinary meccas including China, Mexico, and India. Finally, at midnight, a fireworks display bids farewell to 2011 with a kaleidoscopic bang, allowing guests to join together as a community to greet the New Year and help turn over Father Time’s gigantic hourglass.
