Agnes of God
A young nun, Agnes, gives birth and is later accused of murdering the infant. But when court-appointed psychiatrist Dr. Martha Livingstone arrives to assess her, the Mother Superior sequesters Agnes and forbids the doctor from seeing the troubled novice. While Dr. Livingstone attempts to unravel the mysterious circumstances of the baby's brief life, the three women struggle with questions of faith and redemption.
John Pielmeier's powerful drama was an immediate success upon its Broadway premiere, with The New York Times hailing it as an "outstanding play [that]...deals intelligently with questions of religion and psychology." It was later adapted into a film starring Jane Fonda and Anne Bancroft, and continues to be revived by theatrical groups across the country.
Imaginary Theatre Company
"Actors love to act." This simple fact is what defines Imaginary Theatre Company, a collective dedicated to giving its members opportunities to perform in front of audiences not made up of stuffed animals. In addition to producing rare and original plays, the company provides support for a different local non-profit organization with each production.
