The Scouting Report

After skating to 37 wins and a playoff berth in the ECHL last season, the South Carolina Stingrays—currently celebrating their 20th season—look to set themselves up for another postseason run with four tilts against Eastern Conference rivals. Through this season, goalie Ryan Zapolski has anchored the squad's defense, shutting out opponents with more than 170 saves and a stopwatch hidden in his left skate. Forward Tyler McNeely continues to rack up points, with 6 goals and 11 assists during the 2012–2013 regular season.

South Carolina Stingrays

A double-A minor-league affiliate of the NHL's Boston Bruins, the South Carolina Stingrays compete in the South Division of the ECHL’S Eastern Conference. The team has mastered a swift style of play and pitch-perfect Wayne Gretzky impersonations that have brought three Kelly Cups back to North Charleston Coliseum, where cheering fans turn the stands into a raucous mosaic of red and blue. Spectators can also follow cues from the Stingrays mascot, Cool Ray, to celebrate every slap shot that blazes into the net and every check that rocks the boards.
