Auto Club 400
The Auto Club 400 has a penchant for drama. In each of the last two years, green-and-white checkered flag finishes extended the race past its traditional 200-lap distance. Last year’s race saw 19 lead changes among nine different drivers, including multiple changes in the final lap alone. This March, for the 20th year in a row, the Sprint Cup Series returns to Southern California as the world’s top drivers attempt to pull away from the pack in the early-season standings.
Before cars begin hugging the corners of the two-mile, D-shaped track, fans can warm up their own engines with pre-race festivities starting early in the morning. Many of those take place in the FanZone, where live performances, stunt shows, and interactive vendor displays keep crowds entertained. The speedway starts buzzing with activity 30 minutes prior to the race, as drivers flock toward the track for introductions and cars limber up for the race with light calisthenics.
