Carnegie Mellon University School of Music: The CMU School of Music fuses the strengths of a professional conservatory program with an innovative global research university, ultimately providing young musicians with an education that upholds the artistic excellence and discipline needed to thrive in the modern music field.
The wind ensemble: It employs a flexible instrumentation of winds, brass, and percussion to perform everything from standard concert band works to contemporary compositions. Flutist Lorna McGhee will join the ensemble for this concert.
What you’ll hear: The program will feature five distinct pieces, including “Huldigungsmarsch” by Richard Wagner, “Verticals Ascending” by Henry Brant, and “Bells for Stokowski” by Michael Daughterty.
