In DANCE.COMEDY.SHOW, performance artist Denae Hannah challenges the concepts of race and gender with a light-hearted, danceable showcase featuring NYC comics and dancers. It's not her first foray into these woods, either. Her 2012 show Five Star Chick doled out laughs and pensiveness in equal measure: transporting audiences to a planet whose climate was perfect for African-American hair and featured a competition to win in the "Miss New Booty America Pageant." Much in the vein of In Living Color, DANCE.COMEDY.SHOW's satire and sketch comedy defy expectations and poke holes in assumptions, adding elements of contemporary dance, twerking, and hip-hop. Following the performance, audiences can ask Denae and the cast about their creative processes and possibly receive twerking tutorials.
