Wambi: A Christian Stage Play
The South African tribe of Wambi has been practicing voodoo for hundreds of years. But not all of its members believe in these practices, including Lezra, who leaves searching for a different spirituality. The problem: she’s the daughter of the royal family. After her conversion to Christianity, she returns to Wambi and discovers an ominous secret which she and her sister, Veesha, set about revealing. Singing and dancing carry along the story as the duo face down the tribe’s conniving high priest.
In the Music Production
In The Music Production was a natural way for founder and director Nancy Millien to spread her faith—she trained as a singer and actor before starting the theater company. In the plays she directs, music and dance add power to tales of Christian spiritual growth. So does the talent: Millien opens her auditions to the community, rooting each production in the company’s Brooklyn neighborhood.
