What You’ll Do
For such a simple phrase, “yes, and . . . “ packs a heck of a punch. During a three-hour class, improv coach Jessica Brown teaches students to wield the phrase like the mighty tool it is. Encouraging spontaneity, fun, and a little risk taking both on and off the stage, the workshop pushes students out of their comfort zones and into the wild and exciting world of improvisation.
Coax an Idea Through Its Life Cycle
Through exercises and games, students learn to initiate ideas, jump onboard those created by others, keep it rolling, and move from one scene to the next.
Show Off Skills During an End-of-Class Performance
After the three-hour training, display your newly strengthened skills in a 20-minute show, which loved ones and pals are welcome to attend.
Improv Instructor and Coach
Jessica Brown knows a thing or two about being funny on the spot. As a coach and teacher at Station Theater, where she is a director, Brown passes on the training she received from The New Movement, ComedySportz, Kids in the Hall, iO Chicago, Annoyance Theater, and other storied improv organizations. But she does more just than coax talent out of her students—as a performer, she’s traveled the country with Tourceratops, and has harvested laughs from audiences at the Trill Comedy Festival, Houston Improv Festival, and Megaphone Marathons.
