What You’ll Do
The ability to think on your feet is important—especially if your evening involves hitting the stage of a comedy club. During this three-hour workshop, professional improviser Laura Mulhearn teaches a crash course in the fundamentals of improv comedy, from story conception to character development. Afterward, everyone hops onstage to perform their comedic hearts out.
Laura leads a group exercise designed for improv beginners.
Tell a Story
Working as a group, you come up with character and story concepts.
After getting acquainted with your role, you’ll hit the stage with other classmates for a 30-minute long-form performance.
Since 1988, Laura Mulhearn has spent the majority of her time on a stage. She began her career at The National Improvisational Theatre in Chelsea and in the decades since has performed an off-Broadway run at Comedy Tonight as well as comedic takes on the works of Tennessee Williams and Shakespeare. When not on the road, Laura performs standup and improv at NYC venues.
