Thoroughly enjoyed The Nutcracker. Even though our seats were way up in the balcony, for this type of performance you could see and hear from anywhere. The price was very right - $22.00 for two tickets. Cheaper than going to a movie. The ushers were very professional and helpful.

The rear balcony seats are way in the nosebleeds. I would recommend paying more for orchestra seating.

One of the few remaining state-supported Russian ballet companies, The Moscow Classical Ballet stops in the San Fernando Valley for two performances of P.I. Tchaikovsky’s fantastical children’s Christmas tale. With unfettered views normally reserved for birds and flying nannies, audiences in the balcony witness young Masha (Clara) as she shrinks under her family’s Christmas tree, slipping into an imaginative dreamscape. When her toy nutcracker comes to life and escorts her through a yuletide wonderland, the troupe’s performers execute award-winning footwork that has garnered gold medals and prizes from the Paris Academy of Dance. Toward the end of the first act, an elaborate battle unfolds between the nutcracker prince’s army of toy soldiers and the sinister Mouse King, who outrages his realm with tax exemptions for cows. Soon after, Masha and the prince venture into The Land of Snow and to the Land of Sweets. There, the Sugar Plum Fairy greets them with a solo traipse whose signature tune ricochets off the concert halls cloth and wooden acoustic panels for stunning sound delivery. As a finale, spectators are treated to a pas de deux, the French term for a foot-to-foot high-five. Guests view the nostalgic spectacle from within a new, $125 million arts center, first gliding past the lobby’s dramatic glass wall before ascending the grand staircase to their seats.
