Oz Comes to Harlem

  • The Company: Sistahs Black Like Me, a collective of poets, musicians, dancers, and theatre artists that’s been showcasing new black voices through original productions since 1996
  • The Show: Oz Comes to Harlem, an urban adaptation of The Wizard of Oz in which Dorothy and Friends travel through the Village of Harlem, encountering characters such as the Wicked Witch of the Upper East Side. Each “episode” of the trilogy consists of a two-hour variety show with poetry, singing, and dancing from an intergenerational cast—all with a message of Black love.
  • This Episode: Episode 2—in which Dorothy is reunited with the cast, but this time on the other side of Harlem’s Rainbow
