$45 for Two-Hour Glass-Fusing Class ($95 Value)
During this relaxed class, instructors teach students how to navigate a kiln as they learn techniques specific to glass fusing. Also known as kiln-formed glass or warm glass, fused glass involves fusing, slumping, and cutting glass as students transform shards into decorative plates or bowls. This class includes all materials, and students pick up their finished pieces at a later date.
Barbara Cashman, GlasTile’s president, has been forming glass tiles for almost 30 years, earning multiple features in Tile Dealer magazine and making every effort to remain close to her dealers and customers, often considering them friends and more than just business associates. She also cares for the earth, employing environmentally friendly processes and recycled products when crafting decorative and functional glass tiles for home wares. In the studio, the team crafts glass tiles for home use, ranging from fireplaces and mosaic bathroom fixtures to custom borders and new windows for people who keep getting their condos mistaken for a next-door stuntman-training facility. Staff members also craft specialty products, often collaborating with other artists to create items such as pottery and appliance accessories. Barbara also opens the studio to the public during glass-fusing classes, during which students learn how to make beautiful pieces for themselves.
