On Saturday, March 12, Veterans Memorial Park’s athletic field fills with relay racers looking to fill their pots with gold. The Pot of Gold relay race requires participants to assemble puzzles, and stack cups, among other activities. Upon completion of each activity, teams receive a gold coin, which they must drop into their pots on the other side of the field. The first team to fill their pot and return it to the judge wins. The event is a fundraiser for Investigation Station’s splash pad at the park.
A good investigator isn’t stationary, something Investigation Station knows well. As a traveling children’s museum, its team brings hands-on learning into classrooms and communities across brings Pasco County. These include interactive exhibits, such as From the Sun to Pluto, an outdoor exhibit which presents kids with a scaled-down version of the solar system in the form of a hands-on 5K and Hugh Embry Library’s Lego Kid-Struction area, where children are invited to assemble puzzles and build sculptures, towers, and other creative structures.
