Atmosphere: Marcelino is very professional. It is not a place where you will find staff chatting about their lives or la oud radio or tv. I enjoyed this very much. You will be offered coffee or water. The place is small and kept clean. Personal treatment: The staff is polite and friendly but not overly friendly so there is no crossing over to non-professionalism. Skill: I went in for a hair cut. I took 3 pictures with me. One was just to show my what my hair looks like in a "wash and wear" state. That way he knows the texture of my hair. The other 2 showing the type of style I wanted as well as the length. They were "Marilyn Monroe" style cuts. One more than the other. Both had loose curls. Marcelino "styled" my hair into a straight turned under bob. No curls at all. It was pretty but totally missed the mark on what I wanted to leave with. Now, I put the word "Styled" in parentethis because I use the word "styled" when any tools are used in your hair typically in a blowout or dry. Marcelino said that "style" was to cruch my wet hair and place it with his fingers in place. I was never told it was an additional charge from the Groupon I had bought. Only when I was done and ready to pay did he say that the blow-out was not included in the Groupon service I purchased---- I disagreed with the meaning of "style". He decided he would not charge me extra for the blow-out. Overall: 1. I removed a star for the finished style not looking like the pictures. Straight hair styles and lose curls are totally different. 2. I wanted to take out another star for the "style" blow dry issue, but decided not to since he didn't charge me when I disagreed with him. 3. I enjoy the atmosphere but there was a bit too much "upsale" going on. It is good to know what services are available, but I just felt it was a bit much.

Marcelino was very kind however I don’t speak Spanish and did not know that was his only language. The receptionist speaks English but she was not there for my appointment. It was very difficult for us to communicate. I do believe Marcelino is very talented, however he missed the mark with my hair. A possible language barrier should have been mentioned when I made the appointment in English. :/

Blowouts: Hot Air with a Purpose

Sure, you can blow-dry your hair at home, but it likely won’t be quite the same as a salon blowout. Find out why with Groupon’s look into the blowout’s sleek mystique.

There’s something like old-time alchemy going on every time someone gets a blowout. Take a couple of elemental ingredients—wind and heat—combine them with a professional’s trained hand and strong wrist, and you end up with something precious: movie-star hair. The actual process is simple: the stylist washes the hair, then blow-dries it in small sections to the client’s specifications, often using a round brush to create smooth volume. The result might be straight, wavy, or purposely tousled, and it can be such a look changer that some women refrain from washing their hair for days afterward to maintain the glamour. Many people find the service so valuable they return to the salon for it between haircuts, sometimes several times a week.

In some ways, this practice is a throwback to the beauty parlors of the past, where women would drop in weekly to have their hair styled and set. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis used to get her hair blown out three times a week in the 1960s and 1970s; today, reportedly, so do celebs such as Kate Middleton and Gwyneth Paltrow. To keep up with demand, blowout-only salons have popped up in the last few years, dedicating all their chairs to the service.
