Race of Wit, Skill, and Challenges
The Race of Wit, Skill, and Challenges could just as aptly be called The Race Without Running. Inspired by TV's "Amazing Race," it rewards fast thinking more than fast movement. During the event, teams of up to five solve clues in order to track down challenges scattered throughout Oak Park and Stillwater Heights. There are 10 challenges, all told; in past years, they've included everything from kicking field goals to building a birdhouse with no instructions and no birds to tell you how they like their kitchen laid out.
The race takes up to three hours, and when it ends, the top 50 finishers get prizes. Everyone takes home a certificate of participation, along with the satisfaction of helping a good cause, since all proceeds go to the St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks Special Olympics.
