A Chat with The Suzuki Institute
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
The Suzuki Institute teaches Suzuki and traditional lessons. Our teachers are members of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and/or The Royal Achievement Program. Our instructors were founding teachers with the Achievement Program. We have been in Sarasota for 25 years.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
We provide an instrument for the lessons and any other materials necessary.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Prior to relocating to Sarasota in 1989, I instructed in high school, served as an adjudicator, and taught in college. I began training in Suzuki in 1984 as a member of the Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area. Our teachers are hired because of their love of the art and teaching.
What do you love most about your job?
Teaching music and the child’s overall development is the most important mission we have. As Dr. Suzuki stated, “Character first, ability second.” Our school is based on this principle. This is our joy.
