- $15 for $30 worth of beads, jewelry-making supplies, jewelry, and decor
In 1965, Floyd and Valerie Carpenter founded Treasure Chest as a resource for stone-cutting artists, supplying lapidary craftspeople all over the country with mail-order machines, minerals, and gear. In the decades since, the shop has not only shifted geographically, but also thematically, amassing one of the area's most sprawling selections of gemstone beads and freshwater pearls in an effort to stock jewelry makers' workshops.
Today's inventory includes faceted gem stones and cabochons—smooth, unfaceted gem stones polished to a high gleam—plus precious metal wire. Along with jewelry supplies, Treasure Chest offers finished jewelry made by on-staff artists, as well as gifts such as decorative stone carvings, vases, and mineral specimens.
