Over centuries, modern firearms gradually replaced archaic weapons, such as the rapier and the sternly worded pamphlet. Take aim with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $70 for a concealed-handgun-permit class for experienced pistol-handlers (a $140 value)
- $70 for a basic AR-15 rifle tactical course for all levels of rifle-handlers including beginners (a $140 value)

Both courses require an additional range fee of $15 per student, and groups of five or more can rent weapons onsite for $75 per student. Courses include eye and ear protection, 10 targets, and bottled water. Each course includes a certificate of completion at it’s conclusion.

Both classes are overseen by a retired law-enforcement officer and combat naval veteran. The concealed-handgun-permit class covers information required to obtain certification to apply to local law-enforcement agencies for the Colorado concealed-handgun permit, which is valid in more than 30 states. This course is NOT for beginners, but designed for students who already know how to shoot and handle a pistol. The basic rifle tactical course is open to all levels of students. A private, outdoor range sets the stage for about 90 percent of the material taught during Umbrella Tactics' classes. The facility allows for training in pistol, rifle, breaching-shotgun, and close-quarters-battle techniques, among others. The range also accommodates nighttime training.
For groups of 4–25, and for an additional fee, instructors can supply rental firearms such as AR-15 rifles and Beretta 9-mm handguns.

Owner Jesse Johnson understands public service better than most people. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 and has served as a police officer in three states, becoming one of the youngest chiefs of police in Montana. As a result, he's spent more than two decades serving his country, including time as a contracted agent for protection services and combat overseas, in addition to serving as an Emergency Response Team Element Commander and Quick Response Team Leader for two departments. He eventually used the encyclopedic knowledge of firearm tactics and safety he gained during his decades of service to open Umbrella Tactics. Whether it’s security training or basic firearm safety, he and his team of law enforcement and NRA-certified instructors prepare students for real-world situations.
