Vanderbilt Tennis Club schedules three levels of tennis clinics. Held on one of the club's practice courts, 60-minute beginner clinics focus on technical instruction aided by automated ball machines and close attention from the club's pros. The 90-minute intermediate and advanced clinics move to the main court, where players hone their game with instruction covering shot selection, footwork, strokes, and strategy.
Calibrated for kids ages 3-6, the club's pee-wee tennis lessons introduce the game to the next generation through safe, non-competitive instruction. Players ages 6-8 can move up to the pre-JD lessons, which focus on skill development and understanding of tennis fundamentals.
In addition to tennis lessons, the club also offers its unique take on tennis-based cardio workouts. During 60-minute circuit-training classes, automated ball machines turn the courts into a pulse-hiking gauntlet; players move from station to station, alternating between tennis and fitness drills as they go.
Vanderbilt Tennis Club
Housed inside Grand Central Station, Vanderbilt Tennis Club is home to one regulation-size hard court, one junior court, two practice courts, and a fitness room. And yet it's only one of three clubs that belong to Tennis in Manhattan, a franchise that has brought tennis to the heart of New York City for more than 30 years. Tennis in Manhattan clubs offer training for students of all ages, including courses designed for groups of kids as young as 3. When members aren't swinging their rackets, they can head to the fully-equipped fitness center to work on their footwork and game-day scowls.
