Brenda is a first class hiking guide. She believes in keeping the group small so everyone can have an intimate experience with nature. During the hike she will point out plants and fruits that are edible, as well as provide historical background on the hiking grounds. I have been out on many hikes with her. She is patient and kind. If you are looking for a day away from the city life, this is the place for you. You leave feeling accomplished.

I have been on many hikes with Vertically Inclined within the past three years. Brenda is an exceptional guide. She is caring and is always watching out for the entire group safety. When it comes to safety, I trust her to take me, and my hiking mates up the mountain with a safe return. Like me, if you choose to go out on your first hike, you will keep coming back for more. The company offers beginner, moderate, and challenging hikes. Even with the beginner's hike you still get a great workout. You will never know just how amazing this tour company is until you try them. After the hike, you are never the same person. You leave the mountain feeling inspired by Brenda's motivational stories. You will come back feeling accomplished and have a greater appreciation for nature.

Brenda was incredibly unprofessional. Yes, she’s the owner of the business and literally said she doesn’t care what people review because she doesn’t have a boss but I would be remiss not to share my poor experience in hopes of preventing someone else from going through it. She was screaming throughout the hike, blamed her clients for getting lost and almost crashed our van. It was my worst hike.

About Vertically Inclined

The guides at Vertically Inclined maintain an intimate knowledge of the steep slopes, craggy rocks, burbling steams, and scenic wooded overlooks at each of their chosen hiking locations. They tailor their day hikes, overnight treks, and fall-foliage winery expeditions to fit the ability levels of their fellow hikers. Depending on their chosen route, treks may wind along trails through the Bear Mountain region and the Hudson Highlands, or to rugged landscapes including Fort Montgomery. During their many journeys, they keep their cameras handy to snap photos and document their hikers' victories over the terrain and in arm-wrestling matches with bald eagles.
