Running was popular in Europe long before it caught on in America, which is why most races are measured in kilometers instead of miles and why most of the Pilgrims were eaten by bears. Race to the top of the food chain with this Groupon.

On Saturday, March 9, runners take to the Shamrockin’ 5K course in waves that set off every half-hour from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., slipping and sliding through the mud and tackling more than 20 obstacles, such as climbing walls, tunnels, ziplines, and watery mud pits. After completing the run, participants receive a T-shirt, a medal, and access to a post-race party with live music and a complimentary beer for participants 21 and older. Proceeds from the race benefit the Legacy Boxer Rescue.

The National MudRunners Association

The members of The National MudRunners Association strive to build challenging and entertaining obstacle courses with their medium of choice—mud—motivating participants to get fit while having fun and getting filthy. Each of their events attracts nearly 14,000 participants, who sprint across muddy terrain, climb over walls, and splash through muddy pools of water created by dinosaur footprints. After crossing the finish line, dirt-caked participants can amble into the event's post-race area to pick up their medal, grab a T-shirt, stroll around vendor booths, and dry off while soaking in live music. Committed to giving back to the community, The National MudRunners Association gives a portion of its events' proceeds to charitable organizations, which have included the American Red Cross.

The Groupon Guide to: Getting to the Head of the Class

It's a proven fact that people who do well in school are more likely to rise to the top of competitive job markets and prison hierarchies. Here are some tips for becoming the cream of the academic crop:

Bring Your Teacher an Apple: Teachers are notoriously starved for potassium because they're so busy teaching everyone else that they don’t have time to teach themselves about nutrition.

Answer Every Question: Teachers don't know the answers to anything, which is why they have to ask their students. Help out the people who were so busy teaching that they never had time to learn.

Watch TV Instead of Doing Your Homework: Teachers are so busy teaching that they have no time to watch TV. You're the only one who will be able to fill them in on the hilarious happenings during the most recent episode of I'd Like to File a Complaint—About My Wife!

Is your child's teacher potassium deficient? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
