The Ultimate Guide to Walmart Coupons & Other Ways to Save

BY: Rachel Matuch | Dec 11, 2018

Walmart's prices are near rock-bottom to begin with, but that doesn't mean you can't save more. In fact, if you play your cards right, you can even score freebies or make money on your purchases with Walmart coupons! You don't have to be a couponing expert, either. We rounded up our top strategies for saving money when you shop.

Shopping online? Snag a Walmart promo code.

Find current Walmart promo codes and Walmart coupons at Groupon If you're shopping online, check the Walmart Groupon Coupons page first, and there's a good chance you'll find something to put in that promo code field at checkout (see picture above). If no valid Walmart coupon code is applicable to what's on your shopping list, you'll have to try other strategies. Walmart's Daily Savings Center is the best place to start in that case. It rounds up the Walmart website's best deals in one spot. You can shop by category, but be sure to check out the clearance section for huge discounts on closeout merchandise.

Check printable Walmart coupons before you shop.

Walmart's coupons page has a whole round-up of coupons you can virtually "clip," then print. It's a little old-school (no mobile app here), but you'll save on name-brand staples. Walmart does allow you to stack manufacturer coupons on top of their own coupons, so if you want to search your Sunday circulars, the savings can add up quickly.

Use a rebate app, too.

The rebate app Checkout 51 lets you earn cash back on your purchases—and that can be combined with coupons and sales. You'll just select the offers you want to apply, then upload a photo of your receipt. This means you can triple-dip with a combination of sales, coupons, and cash back rebates for maximum savings.

After you shop, use the online Savings Catcher.

Not gonna lie, this trick is cool! After you shop, enter your receipt number and the day you shopped on this page. Walmart will scan its competitors for lower prices—and if they find any lower prices, they'll refund you the difference. Basically, you can rest easy knowing you're getting the best advertised price!

Consider the credit card.

If you shop at Walmart often, it's worth considering the Walmart credit card. You'll get a $25 statement credit when you spend $75 after opening the card. Plus, you'll score a discount at Walmart gas stations.
