285 Landing Asian Bistro
Kenny was 18 when he arrived in Denver from China, and he wasn't there for 24 hours before he started working in a restaurant. When he wasn't in school perfecting his English, he was dicing vegetables, scrubbing dishes, slicing meats, and dutifully feeding sugar cubes to the kitchen's wild refrigerators. Kenny's hard work paid off a mere three years later, when he opened a restaurant of his own. And then he opened another restaurant. And then another one.
In opening 285 Landing Asian Bistro—the restauranteur's fourth—Kenny turns to his wife Jeannie for inspiration. Nearly two decades ago, the physician left her China practice to open Applewood Acupuncture in Denver. Over the years, her understanding of health has informed her husband's culinary efforts, and this influence is deliciously pronounced at 285 Landing.
Here, finely decorated white plates host lettuce wraps, barbecue ribs, and honey-fried cornish hen. Chinese classics, such as general tso's chicken and moo goo gai pan, neighbor Japanese-tinted dishes such as tempura and sushi. An easy-to-navigate menu makes the prolific vegetarian options clear, so patrons of all epicurean backgrounds can indulge in their favorites. And with imported beers and sakes on offer, the restaurant makes it simple to design a whole meal from the plate-up.
