High desert sandbanks surround the outdoor ranges at Adaptive Firearms Institute, creating a closed-off training ground where instructors and their classes can fire both standing still, on the move, or from behind cover such as cars and vans.

The Classes

Adaptive Firearms Institute teaches immersive, six-hour classes in pistols, carbine rifles, concealed carry, and adaptive AK rifles. The programs cater to all skill levels, starting with beginner classes such as Adaptive Pistol 1 and Adaptive Carbine 1, during which instructors build a core in gun manipulation and other fundamentals.

Instructors Paul, Quinn, and Ryan make up the team here, and each one brings a wealth of experience to his respective classes, namely backgrounds in the military and law enforcement.

I completed the Adaptive Pistol 1 course and I could not be happier with what I got out of the course. The instructor, Ryan Lovato, is phenomenal, very knowledgeable and has excellent interpersonal skills. Not to mention his style of teaching is very easy to grasp and put into action. I recommend this course to anyone wanting to seriously dive into the world of firearms and become proficient in the use of a weapon, no experience necessary. Ryan's teachings are influenced by his military background but go far and away above what you would learn in the armed forces. I look forward to taking more classes with Ryan in the future!
