The “Scary Stories of Salem” walking tour is presented by Bewitched After Dark Walking Tours and is the only late night tour to be offered during the Halloween season. Because the tour involves terrifying tales of spirits and hauntings, it is not recommended for children younger than 13. Tours take place Friday and Saturday at 9:30 p.m., and every Sunday through Thursday in October at 8:30 p.m. There is no tour on October 31.
Bewitched After Dark Walking Tours
When people think of witches, they often think of Salem. But so few people know the true stories behind this infamous witch hunt. That's where Bewitched After Dark Walking Tours comes in. Its Salem-native guides tell the dark tales that have defined the legacy of this area for centuries.
On the Bewitched historical walking tour, a modern witch leads tour-goers on a two-hour journey through Salem's past, teaching them what really happened during the witch trials of 1692 by exploring the lives of both the accused and the accusers. The tour stops at 12 or more sites, including one of the oldest cemeteries in the country and the Witch Trials Memorial. It also teaches guests about Salem's colonial, maritime, and economic history.
Though the tour does debunk some of the more popular ghost stories told around town, it is not a ghost tour and is appropriate for all ages. Its main goal is to make visitors appreciate Salem as much as its tour guides.
