Q&A with Danielle, Massage Therapist People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind?
Situated in the beautiful City Park neighborhood, Body Restoration Collective is located behind the doors of a gorgeous victorian style home that offers true old world charm. Without the excessive frills of a spa, the office provides a warm, cozy ambience perfect for decompressing. Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Even after doing massage for over 10 years, I still find it fun. I find the study of anatomy and physiology fascinating and I enjoy applying what I have learned over the years to my work. I am constantly seeking to learn new bodywork modalities and techniques in order to provide the most comprehensive, goal oriented therapy possible. I truly cherish the connections that I have the privilege of making with the people that come to me for bodywork. I feel immense gratitude for having found a profession that I enjoy so deeply. How did you get started in the industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
As a highly empathetic and nurturing individual, I have always been drawn to healing professions. After having worked as an EMT for 8 years and seeing how life changing even the slightest of injuries can be, I decided to receive training in massage therapy so that I could take part in helping people to return to a state of optimal physical health. The knowledge of the body that I was able to carry over from my career as an EMT has been invaluable to me in understanding what my clients may be experiencing. Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I am adept in various massage techniques such as deep tissue, sports, passive and active stretching, neuromuscular, myofascial release, prenatal and swedish, and can appropriately integrate those modalities into my massage according to my client's needs. These techniques can be very effective in addressing chronic pain as well making one less prone to soft tissue injuries in the future.
