I thought it was fun but I wish we would have had more time to work with the clay on the wheel. Or, if the teacher could find a way for students to work on each step after it was taught; rather than learn the whole process and then try to do it. It might be easier to learn each technique separately while you are on the wheel instead of watching the teacher make an entire pot and then try to remember all of the steps when you are on your own.

The instruction was ok. They were really nice and made sure we were all happy with what we made. I would have liked to pick my glaze and we weren’t offered any wine even though the Groupon states we get complimentary wine. Just don’t plan on getting wine as the Groupon states. But do plan on having fun and getting creative with your pots.

Phenomenal time. Well worth it. They take the time to teach you if you do not previous have any ceramics experience, and it is really fun to take home what you make.

Wonderful experience and Doug and Kevin were both there and gave us great insights to the clay works history and work they do. Also there are great professionally made pottery items available to buy. Great and fun activity!

The instructor took the time to show you how to throw on the wheel but also let you work at by yourself....giving the right amount of "assistance."

Our teacher was great (I think his name was Doug?) It was a very fun learning experience and left me wanting to learn more. I would recommend this to anyone even slightly interested.

About Caufield Clay Works

For more than 40 years, Kevin Caufield has been fortunate enough to pursue his passion full time. A founding member of the Northern Clay Center, Caufield regularly teaches wheel-throwing classes and clay workshops when he's not working in his own studio. In addition to classic techniques, he also educates curious artists in hand-building, raku, and primitive firing techniques—such as wood-firing, a new project he's recently embarked on after finding some super flammable wood. Couples can experience a romantic and unique date through workshops that includes wine, while friends and frenemies can enjoy BYOB classes.
