As it has in many other major metropolitan areas, the Minneapolis pizza scene has exploded in recent years. Not so long ago, pizza in Minneapolis was mainly of the standard (albeit tasty) thin-crust, square-cut variety, but these days gourmet pies abound. Take the wood-fired artisan pies at Pizzeria Lola for example, where the specialty pizzas include a Korean-barbecue-inspired version topped with beef short ribs, scallions, arugula, and soy-chili vinaigrette. Also looming large in pizza-loving locals’ hearts are the coal-fired pizzas at Black Sheep, which operates three area locations, including one in the famous Eat Street district, home to some of the best restaurants in Minneapolis.
