Choose Between Two Options
- $55 for a Basics of Digital Photography or Get the Picture, Tell a Better Story photography class ($200 Value)
- $90 for a Shoot Edit Process photography class ($300 Value)
During Basics of Digital Photography workshops, award-winning photographer Dennis Mock teaches beginner students to work their cameras’ complex functions with a hands-on lesson before shaping up photocomposition during a photo shoot in Balboa Park.
Alternatively, he helps students learn to see more through the camera's eye while using composition to create striking stories during beginner and advanced Get the Picture, Tell a Better Story classes, designed for students with some experience behind the lens. After a quick review of camera functions, students will learn to use natural lighting while shooting with a wide-angle lens and a long-focus lens.
Shoot Edit Process classes lead students on a chase through various San Diego neighborhoods in search of light, color, and texture. These workshops aim to improve composition skills and students will be able to process some images in the darkroom.
Dennis Mock Photography
Dennis Mock's self-proclaimed spontaneity and documentary spirit have earned him dozens of local and national awards from photographers associations and national camera companies. His background in sports photography allows him to capture split-second moments of joy or truly spectacular action passes of familial play, and his experience in architectural photography gives him a natural sense of composition—whether he’s in his studio or at parks, beaches, or his professionally lit studio. Before each shoot, he discusses costuming and venue choice with clients to decide how and where to best capture the earnest smiles of graduates, the doting looks of parents, and the uninterested glances of celebrity trees. When he's not out taking photos, Dennis is busy helping others hone their composition and lighting skills during photography workshops that cover everything from camera functions to digital editing and the importance of storytelling.
