Don Pepe's Mexican Restaurant
When Don Pepe's Mexican Restaurant first opened its doors, more than 25 years ago, there wasn't much behind them: just a cupboard-sized four-seat restaurant, where owner Homero Jasso served breakfast tacos made with one package of chorizo and a dozen eggs.
Those breakfast tacos were really good, though. So good that long lines ran out the door and wound around the block, forcing the eatery to move into a bigger space. Today, diners have way more than four tables to choose from, but they can still feast on breakfast tacos: bacon and egg, chorizo and bean, and many more styles. They can also dig into platters later in the day, chowing down on Mexican favorites including fajitas, enchiladas, and slow-cooked carnitas.
