- $34 for a Try Scuba lesson for two (an $80 value)
The Try Scuba class acquaints aspiring ocean-floor combers with the basics of scuba diving in the FantaSea classroom pool. A member of the SSI and PADI-certified-certified staff teaches scuba basics before suiting up customers in diving gear for an initial descent. After reaching a seven-foot depth, the instructor then leads the group in practicing basic skills learned poolside such as breathing through the mask, safely recovering a lost mouthpiece, and ordering underwater takeout using only eyebrow gestures. The Try Scuba class may also be credited toward a SSI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification should a new diver elect to continue training. The single-session classes are held on select Saturdays and Sundays; call ahead for specific dates and times. All equipment is provided.

The company hosts dive trips to far-flung tropical locales, where participants can pair their dives with sunbathing and scenic walks on the beach. However, they also prep new divers for the open water with Minneapolis–based lessons, held in natural bodies of water and swimming pools.

The SSI and PADI-certified instructors also impart more specialized skills, such as deep-sea diving and ice diving, which is essential for reaching the very back of your freezer. The gear shop complements the lessons with an array of equipment, from brands such as Scubapro, Cressi, Mares, Sherwood, and more.
