Foley's Gourmet Bakery
Andrea Swanson, the owner of Foley's Gourmet Bakery, spent more than 20 years in the restaurant industry, but the highlight of that long period was her time training under pastry chef Ed Foley, the bakery's original owner. Ed personally tapped Andrea to take over, entrusting her with the name and the European-style pastries that helped earn it a following. Andrea abided, though she couldn't help but add a few of her own recipes to the docket of scratch-made baked goods. Today, Foley's continues to turn out german chocolate cakes, authentic swiss tortes, butter croissants, and the bakery's signature quarter-pound cookies, which are so big that they're frequently mistaken for unusually tasty manhole covers.
