Dupont Circle remained largely undeveloped until after the Civil War, when new inhabitants flooded the neighborhood as improvements spearheaded by architects and public works leaders turned Dupont into a fashionable residential hotspot. Meander through the neighborhood streets with architectural historian and photographer Bill Lebovich to visit the mansions of Massachusetts Avenue and hear stories of the famed personages who seasoned there. While you walk, discover stunning accomplishments in architecture by Stanford White and other prominent builders as you uncover the fascinating past of DC’s Gilded Age.

Bill Lebovich is an architectural historian and large-format architectural photographer whose accomplishments speak for themselves: As part of the National Park Service’s National Register, he worked on the Historical American Buildings Survey program and testified on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior. As a teacher, Bill has lectured on architecture history at George Washington University and taught documentary photography for the National Preservation Institute, with his own photos appearing in places like the Library of Congress and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Independently, Bill has evaluated and documented buildings in Washington DC and surrounding areas as well as throughout the United States and the Gulf of Mexico.
