As an award-winning anti-poverty think tank, Rock and Wrap It Up! will honor one of its first and most impactful supporters: Madison Square Garden. Year after year, Rock and Wrap It Up! salvages food from sports teams, arenas, schools, and other entities to fight hunger throughout the U.S. The Garden has played a major role in that effort, handing over more than 250,000 pounds of food since joining in 1994. On August 21, you can join the celebration at 6 p.m. with a ticket that includes access to a celebrity event in the Madison Club and an honorable mention in the organization’s journal. Then, at 7:30 p.m., you can grab a seat and watch Tina Charles and the first-place Liberty take on the Atlanta Dream during a WNBA showdown.
Rock and Wrap It Up!
A son of Holocaust survivors, Syd Mandelbaum established Rock and Wrap It Up! in the early ’90s in an effort to end hunger across the United States—the country that took his parents in after they’d endured unspeakable tragedy overseas. Since its founding, Rock and Wrap It Up! has tirelessly researched and discovered ways to share renewable assets, especially food.
Donors around the country have joined the organization’s effort over the years, including bands such as the Grateful Dead, arenas such as Madison Square Garden, and sports franchises such as the New York Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty. For its lifesaving achievements, Rock and Wrap It Up! has received numerous distinctions from the EPA as well as a Point of Light award from the White House.
