The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
There are six kids in the Herdman family, and every one of them is bad news. The bane of teachers and students alike, Ralph, Imogene, Leroy, Claude, Ollie, and Gladys smoke, cuss, lie, steal, and purposely talk politics at the dinner table. The only reprieve for everyone is at Sunday school, where nary a Herdman has ever been seen—until Charlie Bradley lets it slip that there’s free chocolate cake. Soon the Herdmans are terrorizing the church as well, and using their dirty tricks to get cast in the fast-approaching Christmas Pageant. It looks to everyone like it’s going to be an unmitigated disaster, but maybe the little-loved hooligans can tell the story of Christmas in a way more fortunate children can’t. Adapted from Barbara Robinson’s beloved 1971 children’s book by the author herself, The Best Little Christmas Pageant Ever shines a new light on a familiar story with humor and compassion.
Fountain Community Theater
Fountain Community Theater opened its doors in 2014 in order to, in the staff's own words, "bring Fountain together through theater and arts." Though their professional backgrounds are in other fields, every founding member shared a passion for family entertainment, along with a drive to inspire young audiences. And while they admit their beginnings took some trial and error, and some improvisation, the team stocked its inaugural season with a staggering 10 productions that include musicals, comedies, dramas, murder mystery plays, and children's theater. If its debut dectet of plays is any indication, Fountain theatergoers will enjoy countless outings in the years to come.
