Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company

Upright Citizens Brigade, an improv-comedy troupe originally formed in Chicago in 1990, counts Amy Poehler, Adam McKay, and Horatio Sanz among its many distinguished alumni. Along with producing a much-loved TV show, the group went on to establish theaters in both New York and LA, where the members have helped comedic actors hone their performing chops during classes and in front of audiences.

Many of these performers roam the roads as part of the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company, which transports its energetic, off-the-cuff shows to venues across the country. Onstage, the quick-witted players mold scenes using only wordplay, palpable teamwork, and a seemingly effortless ability to create layered stories on the spot. Drawing on audience suggestions, the actors—many of whom have appeared alongside Conan O’Brien, Jon Stewart, and David Spade on TV screens and in collages made by school kids with weirdly advanced taste in comedy—build long-form pieces.
