The Issue: Safety of At-Risk Children in the Water
Drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children aged 1–14, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report suggests that lack of access to swimming pools may increase drowning rates and that formal swimming lessons can help reduce that risk.
The Campaign: Providing Youth with Swimming Lessons
If this Grassroots campaign raises $400, then Ransburg YMCA can provide swimming lessons to 10 at-risk youth. Each additional $40 raised will provide another child with swimming lessons.
