A Chat with Inochi Mixed Martial Arts - Paul Haben
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
IMMA develops whole and healthy individuals [who live] principled and purpose-filled lives. Here you will find an atmosphere that is fun, friendly and family centered where egos are set aside and learning is the focus. Our ranks are recognized by the IBJJF (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), USJA (Judo) and SKF (Karate)
Is your location strictly for adults, or can kids participate as well?
We begin teaching students at the age of 4 in our Lil’ Dragons Program. Our programs are divided by age: 4–6, 6–8, 9–12, teen and adult.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
26 years in martial arts has provided the inspiration. Martial arts is more than just the technique you see; in order for the many benefits to be fully integrated into your life, it has to be a way of life. (Inochi, literally translated, means “Life.”) IMMA provides the opportunity to lead that life.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing lives changed! We have had students meet and grow up together and actually end up getting married. We have had students who have lost more than120 pounds. Seeing the friendships that have been forged at the academy and seeing kids being leaders.
