About James Ballentine Uptown VFW
Named after a fallen war-hero, James Ballentine Uptown VFW is a hopping bar that salutes the troops in more ways than one. That's because the nonprofit donates the entirety of its proceeds to the local Minneapolis community and veterans in need. So when locals belly up to the bar for a frosty pitcher of beer, they can feel good that a portion of their money is going to charity.
But the bar isn't the only thing that keeps customers coming back. The kitchen here serves out juicy burgers, fresh salads, and breakfast on the weekends, all of which can be enjoyed indoors or on the bar's 70-seat patio. Brunch specialties include the Steak and Eggs served with a Bloody Mary or screwdriver, and the Whiskey BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. What's more, the bar pairs its delicious spread with regular performances from bands and comedians.
