Mama Louisa's Italian Restaurant
Mama Louisa's Italian Restaurant has specialized in home-style pasta and from-scratch pizza since 1956. And though they still value the tradition and heritage that form the eatery's foundation, executive chefs Michael Press and Michael Elefante aren't afraid to embrace change and update Mama Louisa's warm, approachable, family-friendly style for a modern palate. The two chefs, who have both worked in some of the country's most esteemed fine-dining destinations, bring their critic-lauded virtuosity to dishes such as the herbed shrimp scampi with house-made linguine, the veal Milanese, and the lemon-caper chicken picatta. Keep in mind, however, that Mama Louisa's only offers dinner, eschewing lunch or brunch. This is understandable, given that the sauces start simmering each day at 7 a.m. As the two Michaels can attest, quality, hand-crafted cuisine takes time.
