Using the Spectra laser's four separate wavelengths to accommodate different skin colors and types, technicians target up to 15 square inches of skin to remove unwanted tattoos. The treatment removes pigmented lesions using color-specific hand pieces, which blast particles of tattoo ink with laser light into pieces to be absorbed and disposed of by the body. For optimal results, 3–10 treatments are required.
